Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim’s injury is nothing serious as x-ray report suggested no fracture on the ring finger of his right hand, the BCB has said.
The Tigers’ wicketkeeper sprained his finger in the 35th over of the Pakistan innings at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium on Wednesday.
After the close of play in the second day, BCB Media Manager Rabeed Imam said Mushfiq’s injury was not serious but there was lingering pain at the moment.
“I hope he will be fully fit by tomorrow,” he said.
Mushfiqur dived to his right to take a catch in the 35th over after Azhar Ali, on 28, had edged debutant seamer Mohammad Shahid. The ball hit low on his hand.
Signs of injury immediately appeared as Mushfiqur struggled with the physios taking a look.
The captain went off the field during a drinks break a couple of overs later.
Imrul Kayes took his spot behind the wicket and Tamim Iqbal took charge as stand-in captain for the rest of the day.
Mushfiq had dropped Azhar once before when the batsman was on 11.
Pakistan were 227 for one at stumps after their bowlers restricted Bangladesh batsmen to 332 all out.
