If I were the mayor ….
Renowned artistes and media personalities talked about their priorities - if they were elected as mayor -

I don’t think me being a mayor is ever a possibility. So, I rather prefer talking about my expectations from the future mayors. I hope they will prioritize the traffic situation and cleanliness. We expect a clean, traffic congestion-free Dhaka city.

Our city looks like one big shopping mall! If I were the mayor, I would have separated the residential areas from commercial areas. Schools, residents and shopping malls should not be jumbled together, there should be designated spaces for each. Re-planning the city and making it more efficient as well as a nice one would have been my priority.

If I were the mayor, my main priority would have been ensuring the basic needs of the city dwellers. Traffic congestion, water and electricity crisis, pollution – these problems should not continue any further.

A city without corruption would have been my aim as a mayor. If everyone abides by the traffic rules and the corruptions are checked, any city is bound to be well-organized and developed.

Chanchal Chowdhury

I think traffic congestion is one of the worst problems of Dhaka. Illegal grabbing of footpaths along with traffic congestion is a bane for the city dwellers. I would have eradicated these two problems first, if I were the mayor.
